Phishing Scams Are Rising in Auto Transport: How Carriers and Drivers Can Stay Protected

Fight Phishing Scams in Auto Transport

Cyber attacks targeting the auto transport industry are accelerating, and fast. Over the past several months, Super Dispatch has seen scammers shift from broad, generic phishing attempts to highly targeted schemes aimed directly at carriers, dispatchers, and drivers. Their goal is to gain access to real accounts so they can book high-value vehicles, reroute deliveries, and steal sensitive information before anyone notices.

At Super Dispatch, our Fraud Investigation and Security teams have seen these scams evolve in both sophistication and frequency. And while fraudsters are becoming more creative, the carriers, shippers and brokers can stay one step ahead by knowing what to look for and how to respond.

Here’s what’s happening, what to watch for, and how Super Dispatch is helping you stay protected.

What to Know About Today’s Auto Transport Phishing Scams

Scammers are impersonating legitimate industry contacts and sending messages, often through email or text, that look credible at first glance. Their aim is to lure carriers and drivers into clicking on malicious links or sharing sensitive login details. Here are the most common tactics we’re seeing:

  • Fake Load Offers and Spoofed URLs: Fraudsters send emails or texts claiming to have loads available. These messages include phishing links that lead to look-alike login pages mimicking Super Dispatch, malicious sites that install spyware or key logging software, or fake setup or verification pages requesting login or payment details. Even small spelling variations in a URL can indicate a scam.
  • Requests for Two Factor Authentication Codes: In some cases, scammers follow up with a phone call pretending to be from a dispatcher, broker, or Super Dispatch. They ask users to verify their two-factor code, giving them complete access to the real account.
  • Unauthorized Changes to Pickup or Delivery Instructions: Drivers are being targeted with last-minute calls or texts that request delivery to a different location, changes made outside of the app, or cash payments via Venmo, Zelle, or CashApp. These tactics are used to intercept vehicles or redirect deliveries.

How Carriers and Drivers Can Protect Themselves

Staying protected doesn’t require advanced cybersecurity knowledge. A few simple habits can make a major difference.

  1. Check the URL Every Time: Before entering your Super Dispatch credentials anywhere, verify that the link is correct. Even one altered character is a sign of a phishing site.
  2. Be Cautious with Unexpected Messages: Scammers create a sense of urgency, pushing users to click quickly. If something feels off, stop and verify through another channel.
  3. Never Use the Same Credentials Across Different Platforms: If one account is compromised, it may lead to other accounts being compromised too.
  4. Never Share Authentication Codes: Super Dispatch will never call, text, or email asking you to read back your two-factor authentication code.
  5. Rely on In-Platform Activity Only: Offers, load details, and Bills of Lading (BOLs) should always be accessed directly within the Super Dispatch platform. If you receive a link or attachment via email or text, even if it looks legitimate, do not open it. If an offer is real, it will appear in your Offers section. If you need to review a BOL, locate the load inside Super Dispatch and view it there.
  6. Trust Your Instincts: If delivery changes or payment requests come from an unfamiliar number, always confirm with your dispatcher or the original contact.

How Super Dispatch Is Fighting Fraud

Scammers are getting smarter, but so are our defenses. Super Dispatch has strengthened fraud prevention across the platform through a combination of security protocols, monitoring systems, and dedicated support, including:

  • Fraud Investigation Team: Our in-house specialists respond to reports immediately, investigate suspicious activity, and assist carriers and drivers in recovering control of compromised accounts.
  • Real Time Reporting: Carriers and shippers can report suspicious messages or load activity directly through the TMS. These alerts are monitored continuously, enabling rapid response and threat escalation.
  • Secure, Encrypted Payments: SuperPay uses encrypted gateways and secure processing to protect sensitive financial information, reducing opportunities for fraudulent transactions.
  • Continuous Security Updates: Our platform undergoes regular vulnerability checks, enhanced authentication protections, and ongoing monitoring to detect and block suspicious account behavior.
  • Clear Communication Standards: Super Dispatch never sends text messages requesting extra setup steps, login verification via link, payment information, or two-factor codes. We only send secure SMS short links for load offers and nothing else.

What to Do if You Suspect Fraud

If you receive a suspicious message, click a questionable link, or notice unusual account activity, take action immediately. Stop using the link or message. Report it through your TMS. Contact Super Dispatch Support right away. Your report will be escalated to our Fraud Investigation team, who can help you secure your account and guide you through the next steps if your credentials have been compromised.

Staying Vigilant Keeps the Industry Secure

Phishing scams will continue to adapt, but so will we. When carriers, drivers, and platforms like Super Dispatch work together, we create fewer opportunities for fraudsters to succeed. By staying alert, reporting suspicious activity quickly, and following simple best practices, the industry can limit the impact of these attacks. Super Dispatch is committed to staying on the front lines of fraud prevention so that you can stay focused on what matters most: keeping vehicles moving and your business secure.
