From his roots in Virginia to his impactful journey, Matt shares his personal story and professional insights about what led him to Super Dispatch. Discover what drives him as a leader, his vision for Super Dispatch, and his perspective on the challenges faced by the shippers, brokers, and carriers in the auto transport community.

Hi Matt, tell us a little about yourself! Where you’re from, where you live now, and what are some of the most important things you value outside of work?

I grew up in Fairfax, Virginia. I was born and raised there, so I was lucky enough to have the same friends from childhood. We even lived in the same house for most of my childhood, only moving once. My Dad was a manager of ground transportation for American Airlines and my Mom was a flight attendant. They met at the airport and were together up until my Dad passed away, so that was always really special to me.

I grew up playing lots of sports and still play basketball today. I have a couple of recent fun injuries to prove it. After college, I attended the University of Virginia and I moved to NYC. It was there that I met my wife the old fashioned way…at a bar. We’ve now been married for 9 years and have two kids that are 5 and 2 years old. Outside of my role as a CEO, I love to start my day with my kids. Our recent bit is having them act as country music stars while wearing sunglasses while eating waffles and strawberries at 7:30am.

Can you share a bit about your background and how it has prepared you for the role of CEO at Super Dispatch?

After college and my time in NYC, I moved to San Antonio, Texas to work for Rackspace. I left for a bit to attend grad school, but after graduating, and an eye-opening internship, I realized that I wanted to work with the leaders at Rackspace again and decided to go back. It was there that I worked my way from an individual contributor role to a Chief Strategy Officer over the course of 10 years. The experience was a cool one. One filled with both hyper growth and no growth at all, so I learned a lot from the multiple phases Rackspace went through.

I was ready for a new challenge, and took on the role of CEO at Cloudsnap. We took the company from very little revenue to $4.5 million dollars in 2.5 years. It gave me my first taste of true company building. Once we sold Cloudsnap, I took some time to act as an advisor to other CEO’s while I decided where I should go next, and that journey has brought me here to Super Dispatch.

All of these experiences have had a common thread of growing the business by focusing on the customer experience. I believe that the customer experience is of utmost importance and I am excited to take everything I’ve learned along the way and apply those principles to how we serve Super Dispatch customers.

What about Super Dispatch excited or inspired you to take on the role of CEO?

I spent the past 10 months working as an advisor for Super Dispatch. My intention was to just be an advisor and help the leadership team make certain strategic decisions. After I met and worked with the team at Super, and then even started meeting customers at industry events like Used Car Week, I really saw how meaningful the company  is to the auto transport community. We power the everyday experience for Shippers, Brokers, and Carriers. And, we humbly recognize that there are challenges our customers face that we must help them solve..

In addition to that, people are very important to me. I’ve spent 10 months working with Bek so we know how to effectively work with one another. I also have the good fortune of having already worked with many members of the team. And lastly, I’ve worked with one of our board members for 15+ years and he is excited to try to boss me around again!

What do you see as the biggest challenge for Shippers, Brokers, and Carriers, and how do you intend to address it?

I’m a big believer in living in the customer’s shoes so I’m really eager to get in a truck and ride along with a driver so I can get to know what their day-to-day life looks like.

For Carriers, amongst many things we’re going to do, I think we have work to do to improve load management for drivers and dispatchers and we have some cool stuff coming out in 2025. I also think we need to think beyond load management and become the operating system for carriers because they face many challenges in their day-to-day operations – so, for example, our carriers want to get paid faster and I think we can help there.

For Brokers and Shippers, we are big believers that brokers aren’t going anywhere. So, for brokers, that means that we’ll build additional tools to make it easier for brokers to do more on our platform. And for shippers, that means that we’ll make it easier for shippers to work with and manage multiple brokers in our platform. The opportunity to do more for broker and shippers is very large. Two areas that I think are applicable to shippers, brokers and carriers are pricing and fraud. We are seeing really interesting demand for our pricing insights product where we can provide, for example, shippers with a suggested price and a confidence score related to that price. We could end up powering the back-end of some amazing brands whose customers need to know auto transport pricing in real-time. And on fraud, we are constantly hard at work trying to ensure the authenticity of all parties on our platform so this is both a challenge…but a big opportunity.

Now for some fun ones, what was your first car?

I had a 1990 teal Honda Accord. It was my Dad’s car. Fully equipped with the old school automatic seatbelts and everything.

If you could have any car in the world, what would it be?

I’m not a big luxury car guy. I even just drive a standard SUV for the kids. But if I could be in any car, I think it would be really cool to test drive a car on an F1 track.

What is the longest road trip you have taken and where did you go?

My longest road trip might have been one I did with my Mom driving from San Antonio to Virginia. Texas is so big, I think our first pit stop to stay overnight was in Dallas. But then got to stay in Nashville on the last stretch, so that was a good time.
